Describe the key skills required to manage a focus group.
What will be an ideal response?
Managing a focus group interview is an art that requires a variety of skills. It is critical to make sure all members feel they have been heard and it is safe for them to express their opinions. A successful discussion includes input from all the members. A good interview will include many divergent opinions as well as new ideas that are generated as a result of the exchange. The trick to maintaining a smoothly flowing interview is to make sure all opinions are heard while not discouraging dissenting or minority views and keeping the discussion moving. Challenges include the focus group member who monopolizes the discussion, the shy participant, making sure that all opinions are heard and honored.
