Culture is the way of life common to a group of people. It consists of the values, attitudes, and beliefs that influence their traditions and behavior. It is also a way of interacting with and looking at the world. Though at one time it was believed that America was a "melting pot" in which ethnic cultures would melt into one, ethnic and cultural differences have remained very much a part of American life, making the "salad bowl" analogy more appropriate.
