The U.S. Supreme Court established the minimum contacts test in International Shoe v. Washington. The Ninth Circuit in Boschetto v. Hansing also set forth a three-part test focusing on 1) whether the non-resident purposefully availed himself; 2) the claim arises out of or relates to the defendant's forum related activities; and 3) the exercise of jurisdiction must comport with fair play and substantial justice.
