Explain briefly how a case is brought to the Supreme Court.

What will be an ideal response?

• There is no absolute right to appeal to the United States Supreme Court.• Cases are filed with the Supreme Court, which issues a writ of certiorari when it makes the decision to hear a case. The writ of certiorari orders the lower court to send up the record of the case for review. Writs are issued when a minimum of four justices approve them.
