How do the needs of Maslow compare with those discussed by Rogers? Which of Rogers’s needs were met for Frank before he was laid off? After he was laid off?

What will be an ideal response?

Rogers’s maintenance needs include Maslow’s physiological and safety needs. They involve satisfaction of basic physical needs. These were met, for the most part, both before and after Frank was laid off, except for getting enough sleep, but Frank is concerned about whether these basic physical needs will continue to be met because of his lack of income.
Rogers’s enhancement needs are similar to Maslow’s actualization. It is unlikely that Frank actualized either before or after the layoff.
Rogers also suggested that we have two other needs: the need for positive regard and the need for self-regard. Both of these would fall under Maslow’s esteem needs. Frank’s need for positive regard was met before the layoff in that other workers admired his skill. This need may still be met even though Frank is laid off in that there is no mention of anyone (except Frank himself) judging him badly. On the other hand, while Frank felt good about himself prior to the layoff, the case study indicates that he feels “useless and incompetent” since the layoff, thereby suggesting that his need for self regard was met prior to, but not after, Frank was laid off.
