What is the relationship between force and coercion?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Answers will vary. Students should explore some of the following: Force and the threat of the use of force are tools that can be used for coercion, as well as to other ends. There are different levels of coercion: a policeman walking a patrol armed with a billy club is a mild level. The decision-making process is changed if the policeman is carrying a gun. It is increased again if the policeman draws the weapon; again if the safety is released; again if it is aimed at someone; and again, if a warning shot is fired or a verbal threat is added.
