What is the importance of testing macros prior to implementing them?

If a macro results in an error the result may be different than what was originally intended. Partially or incorrectly executed macros can result in errors in within the database. Additionally, if a macro results in an error, the user will be presented with an error message. The intended user of the database will likely not know how to resolve the problem. Proper testing can avoid both of these results.
