Describe a therapeutic sequence for the lower back. Include soft tissue manipulation as well as joint movements
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: A therapeutic sequence for the lower back might start with application of lubricant to the entire back with effleurage, followed by circular friction along the paraspinal muscles. Continue to warm lower back muscles with superficial friction with the knuckles.
Once these muscles are thoroughly warmed, apply stripping to the muscles of the lower back along the spine between the rib cage and the pelvis. Follow with direct thumb pressure along the quadratus lumborum. Repeat stripping to the area. With fingers on one side of the spine and the thumb on the other side, gently rock the lower back from side to side to create movement in the spine. Finish with effleurage to reconnect the lower back to the entire back.
