Discuss the similarities and differences between movie clip and graphic symbols in terms of their Timelines.

What will be an ideal response?

Both movie clip and graphic symbols have their own Timelines. With a movie clip symbol, the frames in its Timeline play independently of the document's main Timeline. However, with a graphic symbol, the frames in its Timeline are synchronized with the document's main Timeline. Suppose, for instance, you insert a movie clip instance that contains an animation with 10 frames into a document whose main Timeline has only one frame. Even though the main Timeline contains only one frame, the movie clip's 10 frames still play in their entirety. However, if you insert a graphic instance that contains an animation with 10 frames into a document whose main Timeline has only one frame, then only one frame of the graphic instance will play. If you want all 10 frames of the graphic instance to play, you must extend the length of the document's main Timeline to at least 10 frames. Graphic symbols are useful when you want to synchronize the animations in the symbol to that of the main Timeline.
