Is there a place for “street talk” in the law office or when speaking to a client? If so, when and how can it be used? When should it be avoided?

What will be an ideal response?

There can be an appropriate time and place for “street talk” in the law office or
during a client interview. This can be helpful in building trust with clients who may be
intimidated by being in a law office or in the presence of a paralegal or attorney. It should
absolutely be avoided when talking with professional clients or in the office where others are
present. A student should recognize the differences and be able to articulate both appropriate
and inappropriate uses of “street talk.”
