How does Afghanistan's geopolitical situation differ from those of the other countries of the region, and why is its political history so different from those of its neighbors?

What will be an ideal response?

In part, the geopolitical situation is different because it was the site of a proxy war between the Soviet Union and the United States, and because historically different foreign powers have sought control of the region for strategic reasons. Also, it was never completed under the control of any superpower (i.e., Britain, Soviet Union, the United States) thus making it different from other countries that were, or remain, under the Russian or Chinese political orbit. Lastly, it has linkages with other world regions: India and Pakistan in South Asia as well as Iran in Southwest Asia.
