Ans: The benefits are improved cardiovascular function, easier and less complicated labor, improved mental state/attitude, infants are leaner and more neurologically mature. The recommendations are low or moderate exercise programs, 30 minutes most days of the week. Avoid the following- too strenuous exercise, keep heart rate below 140 to provide enough blood /oxygen to fetus, avoid movements that include deep flexing, joint extensions, laying down after 4th month as blood flow can be reduced to fetus, avoid activities that may lead to falls, abdominal trauma or compression of uterus
