Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) is a set of guidelines whose goal is to align information technology (IT) resources and processes with business objectives, quality standards, monetary controls, and security needs. These guidelines are issued by the IT Governance Institute. They provide metrics, best practices, and critical success factors for COBIT-defined IT-related processes. COBIT 5.0 proposes five principles that guide governance of IT:
