How do lava tubes form in basaltic lavas? How can the exterior solidify if the interior is still fluid?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: The exterior of the lava flow cools, but the interior is still hot and fluid (rocks are poor conductors of heat). The fluid lava drains away, leaving the hollow tubes behind.
