Why is it important for police trainers to come from outside the profession of policing?
What will be an ideal response?
When police trainers come from within the ranks, it limits and restricts the worldview of the trainees. The trainer comes from the same worldview as the officers and, though this makes the trainer more relatable to the officers, it doesn’t serve the same benefit. The officers who train under trainers who come from outside policing have a better chance of being able to better relate to the variety of people they will encounter in their day-to-day activities.
