The Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion comprise the bulk of a quantitative research report. Describe the purpose of each of these sections within the research report.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The Introduction of a quantitative research report discusses the problem or questions that the research will address and relates them to the current literature base on the topics. It also describes how the researcher will address the problem or questions. The literature review is included in the Introduction. The Method section describes what the researcher(s) did to conduct the study. It describes the participants, the measures (and their reliability and validity) and/or apparatus used in the study, and the step-by-step procedures that were used in conducting the research. The Results section presents the data that were collected and any analyses that were conducted to address the research problem or answer the research questions. The statistical data are reported in ways that help the reader interpret them (e.g., alpha level, effect size, confidence intervals, etc). The Discussion section is the final section of the research report. It takes the results of the research and interprets them in term of the hypotheses but also the literature that was previously reviewed. Conclusions and comments about the importance of the results are also presented.
