Discuss the reasons for the Himalayan Mountains in terms of plate tectonics. What type of plate

boundary is represented? What will be an ideal response?

The Himalayan Mountains are the result of orogenic activity caused by the collision of India and
Eurasia. Hence, these mountains are an example of a continental-continental convergent plate
boundary. This is the reason that earthquakes are common in the region. The student may also
want to discuss these mountains in terms of a Wilson Cycle.
