How are the RAD genes in yeast similar in function to the rec genes in E. coli?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Both systems are major DNA repair systems as well as functioning in homologous recombination. Some of the individual proteins in both systems have analogous functions. For example, the yeast protein Rad51 plays a similar to that of the E. coli protein RecA.
