Explain reactance theory

What will be an ideal response?

Reactance theory provides a fruitful perspective for considering opposition to change with involuntary clients. Rather than blaming, dismissing, or concluding that an individual is opposed to change, this theory leads you to objectively anticipate the range of responses to be expected when valued freedoms and autonomy are threatened. Reactance theory also lends itself to proactive strategies designed to reduce this kind of behavior.
