What is a hub?

What will be an ideal response?

A hub is an older device for connecting multiple Ethernet devices on a network, typically by using shielded twisted-pair (STP) copper cables to make them function as a single network segment. Hubs work at the Physical Layer (Layer 1) of the OSI model. This means that they do not read any of the data passing through them and are ignorant of the source and destination of the frames. A hub will only receive incoming frames, regenerate the electrical signal, and then send the frames out to all other devices connected to the hub.
