Explain the purpose of lettering on the drawing of a part or mechanism and how it is done.

What will be an ideal response?

The lettering on a drawing supplies additional information, and the dimensions. For exceptionally accurate work and to standardize the shape and size of the letters, the lettering is done with a guide or the lettering may be produced by computer and then added to a drawing. In most other cases, the letters are formed freehand.

Answer the following statement(s) true (T) or false (F)

1. Nearly all commercial, industrial, and residential power circuits are connected in parallel. 2. The total (line) current for an ac parallel circuit may not be equal to the arithmetic sum of the current in each of the branch circuits. 3. The power factor of the circuit is found by the use of the expression: PF = P + VI. 4. The apparent power or volt-amperes of the circuit can be determined by multiplying the applied voltage by the total current. 5. The amount of reactive power or VARs (volt-amperes-reactive) can be determined using the formula: VARs = P/VA.
