Illustrating your answer where appropriate, briefly discuss the approach to justice emphasized by an ethic of care and how it might differ from conventional approaches to justice

What will be an ideal response?

Should describe an ethic of care as emphasizing one or more of the following: empathic understanding; the needs and interests of all parties involved in a dispute; an effort to take contexts and situations into account, including the unique persons involved; and perhaps (though not necessarily) some concern for the need for discretion. Conventional approaches to justice largely emphasizes a rights/justice approach, the rule of law and legal precedent, impartial decisions, and resolving similar cases in similar fashion. Mandatory arrest policies and determinate sentencing might be used as examples that mostly contradict what is called for by an ethic of care, while restorative justice generally and specific programs such as VORP might be used to illustrate one or more principles of care ethics in practice.
