How would you recognize a non-value added activity?
What will be an ideal response?
A non-value added activity costs time, money, and effort. These detractors are wasteful and are easily identified because they are activities that result in no benefit to the organization. Non-value activities in processes stand out because they are often labeled with an "re," as in: rework, redo, repeat, recycle, reclaim, resubmit, etc. Eliminating non-value added activities clarifies the process and allows it to focus on meeting the needs, requirements, and expectations of the customer.
