Define regressive and progressive taxation. Why would a person support regressive taxation, and why would a person support progressive taxation?

What will be an ideal response?

Progressive taxation is defined as higher rates of taxation on people with higher incomes. A person would support progressive taxation because it puts a higher tax burden on the people who can most afford it and who have benefitted most by the opportunities of our society. Regressive taxation takes a disproportionate amount of income from people with lower incomes. A person would support regressive taxation because everyone is paying the same amount of tax based on their purchasing choices without targeting one section of society over another.
