Contrast NPDH and NPSH and describe how each one effects the operation of the pump system. See Review question # 1.
What will be an ideal response?
A centrifugal pump requires sufficient NPSH in order to operate. If the discharge out runs the suction volume the pump will cavitate. The NPDH provides a medium for the pump to push against and remain liquid full. Variations in the NPDH will cause the pump performance to change. Too much NPDH will stop flow, while too little will cause suction problems.
