What are the role of geography on culture, stability, and prosperity?
What will be an ideal response?
Egypt’s prosperity and stability is grounded in its geography. A large part of the Egyptians’ prosperity was due to the flood cycle of the Nile River. Nearly every year, torrential rains caused the river to rise dramatically. When the river receded, deep deposits of fertile silt covered the valley floor. Fields would then be tilled and crops planted and tended. The cycle of flood and sun made Egypt one of the most productive cultures in the ancient world and one of the most stable. In addition, the deserts that surround it insulate it from foreign invasions.
