What are terminal services?

What will be an ideal response?

A variation of client-server computing is terminal services, in which software that allows for applications are installed on servers and then accessed and executed through desktop clients, instead of installing applications on each individual client computer. This results in a significant cost and time savings in installing, configuring, managing, and maintaining the applications, which now can be done centrally on a smaller number of servers instead of on every desktop client. Because the processing is carried out on the server instead of the client computer, older desktop computers can be used as clients with terminal services, reducing the need to purchase the latest high-performance desktops. Microsoft  offers a popular Terminal Services package for Windows servers, and similar products are available from other vendors and for other operating systems.
