What was the attitude of the white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs) toward racial or ethnic diversity, and how did they treat people of other races?

What will be an ideal response?

The white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs) were among the earliest European immigrants to North America. They were sufficiently fearful of people from other racial and ethnic groups who immigrated after them—from places such as Ireland, Italy, and Eastern Europe—that they attempted to "Americanize" them rather than let them build their own social institutions and way of life. They promoted a concept called Anglo conformity in which immigrants were required to renounce their ancestral culture in favor of the beliefs, values, and lifestyle of the dominant WASPs to realize the American dream.
