What are some of the pitfalls of using e-mail for legal correspondence?

What will be an ideal response?

Although legal letters are the general mode of communication between members of your firm and the outside world, it is not advisable to "shoot the client a quick e-mail," as a mode of communication. Your supervising attorney may regularly keep in contact with certain clients by e-mail, but unless you are permitted for a specific reason, or if client has requested correspondence by e-mail, you should maintain all communication in letter form. Unlike a letter, an e-mail can be forwarded to hundreds of people. E-mail messages may also be misdirected to an unintended recipient. E-mail may also not be received because the wrong e-mail address is included or because of technical problems.
