Would you be in favor of the decriminalization of any drugs that are currently considered to be federally controlled substances? Legalization? If so, which ones and why?

What will be an ideal response?

One could make a strong case to decriminalize or legalize certain Schedule I drugs such as marijuana and hashish. This argument might be supported by comparing the effects on users compared to other legal substances (alcohol, cigarettes). In addition, there are numerous examples of a jurisdiction decriminalizing these drugs. It would be more difficult to make a case for decriminalizing other types of drugs, such as heroin and cocaine, primarily because of the moral climate surrounding use of these drugs. There are, however, certainly opportunities to make a case of doing so by looking at successes in other countries.
