Explain the Montessori Curriculum Model. What advantages does this model offer over other curriculum models?

What will be an ideal response?

The Montessori classroom allows children to learn in a well-prepared environment while working with materials that are concrete, intriguing, and self-correcting; that is, the materials can only be used in one way to prevent errors. There are five areas covered in this model: (1) practical life skills, (2) sensory awareness, (3) language arts, (4) math and geometry, and (5) culture. One of the advantages of this model is the highly structured environment with self-correcting materials. These materials are available to children who can then decide if they want to engage in an activity. This curriculum also uses a mixed-age group makeup to allow older children to serve as role models for younger children.
