Explain the relationship between globalization and cyberactivism. Include an example from the course or the reading in your discussion. Be sure to define cyberactivism.

What will be an ideal response?

Correct answer varies but should define cyber-activism, which is the use ofsocial media and other internet-based communication methods to create, promote, or manage activism. Answer could include that the existence of the Internet has given those opposed to globalization in general, or to some specific aspect of it, a powerful tool with which to mount their opposition on a regional and even a global basis. Examples of cyberactivism cited in the text include R.I.P. Medical Debt that raises money to pay off the medical debt of those who cannot afford it; Greenpeace's Greenwire, which digitally connects volunteers with environmental campaigns; and the Women's March on Washington. The text also focuses on the World Social Forum, a huge social network which connects people to exchange ideas on social movements and global issues. Importantly, it has resulted in the coordination of many groups while not yet producing concrete actions and policies.
