Why are American churches so segregated?
What will be an ideal response?
In the United States, Sunday remains the most segregated day of the week, and church the most segregated place in the country—and not just by race. It is also segregated by class and lifestyle and various forms of preferences. Adults attend churches voluntarily, so birds of a feather are permitted to flock together, and they do so even more than they do in other institutions (which are also segregated, although not as fully). Perhaps the most important ingredients of American church segregation, besides religion itself, are area of residence and social status.
