What is the hypothesis of the "RNA world?"

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The "RNA world" hypothesis is that RNA may have originally been the molecule with the primary roles of maintaining and expressing genetic information. Even today, RNA is the genetic material for some viruses, and some RNAs have catalytic functions. Many of the functions that RNA may once have had are now fulfilled by DNA (genetic information storage) and proteins (catalysis).
