How extensive is the problem of child abuse? Why is it such a concern in the U.S.?
What will be an ideal response
Each year, about 2 million U.S. children are reported to the authorities as victims of child abuse or neglect. About 750,000 of these cases are substantiated. Many of the cases of child abuse are despicable. They include torture, rape, and murder. One of the basic philosophies of American culture is that children must be protected and nurtured, and not subjected to such behavior.
