The WHO recommends breastfeeding for one year, with exclusive breastfeeding with no supplement solid foods for the first 4-6 months of life. After solid foods are introduced, beginning with breast milk and rice and adding new foods every day or so, breastfeeding should not be discontinued until the infant is one year of age.
