Describe some of the challenges you face and the techniques you should use when designing navigation for mobile devices.
What will be an ideal response?
Limiting information overload in navigation is especially important for mobile web sites and the smaller sizes of most handheld displays. When designing your navigation structure, try to limit the layers of navigation needed for users to reach the content they desire. On mobile devices, minimize the number of clicks or taps the user has to make. Users will quickly leave your mobile site if they cannot easily find what they want. The limited screen space means your links must clearly tell users where they are going in as few words as possible. Many mobile web designs use navigation symbols that have become universal, such as a magnifying glass for the search function, a shopping cart, and stacked lines (often called the hamburger icon) to represent a menu. Some mobile sites use fewer navigation cues based on their functions. In these examples, the user interface focuses on the most important features
for the site.
