Are there any problems with the suggested classification for any of these systems?
The classification of SoS presented in section 20.2 suggests a governance-
based classification scheme. Giving reasons for your answer, identify the
classifications for the following systems of systems:
(a) A healthcare system that provides unified access to all patient health
records from hospitals, clinics and primary care.
(b) The World Wide Web
(a) Federated system: Most likely to be a Federated System where the
constituent systems are owned and operated by different institutions.
(b) World Wide Web: System of system coalitions. Many independent systems
involved.
(c) Government welfare system: Probably an Organizational system as the
government has the authority for all decision making.
Problems. The boundaries between organizational systems and federated systems
are blurred and there is not enough information here to be sure that the
classifications for (a) and (c) are correct.
