Describe the acute stress reaction including three interventions.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: There are two main stages for intervention among stress victims. The first stage is the immediate stage which is the stage of the acute stress reaction. At this stage, the person is treated at the scene and various interventions are used. Three of the interventions used are: 1) Psychological: this is the earliest intervention aimed at reducing helplessness and increasing self-efficacy; 2) Neurological: It is aimed at decreasing dominance of the limbic lobe and increasing levels of prefrontal cortex activity; and 3) Proximity: the intervention takes place as the location relatively close to the site of the event.
