Why is it important to use gender-neutral words in business situations? What do you think some of the implications would be of using gender-bias words?
What will be an ideal response?
It is important to use gender-neutral words because in our society, men and women are
considered equal. Using gender-bias words, like congressman, can make women feel
excluded from this profession. Gender-bias words show favoritism toward or imply a greater
importance of one gender over another. These words do not accurately reflect today's world
and are not appropriate in today's business communication. Instead, gender-neutral words
should be used as they do not indicate maleness or femaleness.
