How does evolution affect mating behavior?

What will be an ideal response?

The evolutionary approach is generally focused on understanding the adaptive value of certain
traits and behaviors. David Buss is one of the first to take an evolutionary approach to human mating,
love, and sexuality, and his theory underlines the influence of rationality in these behaviors. According
to this approach, human mating behavior is also shaped by evolution, and that means it is shaped by the
environments, circumstances, and rules that influenced our ancestors. Individuals who were successful
in responding to these were more likely to survive and produce offspring, especially successful offspring.
Traits and behaviors that made those individuals successful became selected, and they are inherited,
shaping our behavior in modern days as well.
