It is also very simple to use-the woman has to only periodically check to see that the strings are in place. Unlike the condom or the diaphragm, the IUD does not interrupt intercourse in any way and the woman does not have to remember to use it. The IUD can also be safely used by women after having a baby and while breast-feeding.
