Explain the various methods for assessing effectiveness
What will be an ideal response?
• There are a number of methods for the assessment of effectiveness. The goal model dominates efforts to assess organizations. Studies based on this model identify and measure some goal or goals.
Evaluating companies by their profits is, perhaps, the most obvious example of this approach. In criminal justice, such measures of effectiveness as arrest rates, conviction rates, and recidivism all reflect the goal model. This type of study frequently uses the variable analysis method.
Alternatives to variable analysis include: gross-malfunctioning analysis, in which the target of inquiry is failed or failing organizations revelatory analysis, which asks who is getting what from an organization. In variable analysis, employee morale may be seen as significant because of its assumed effect on goals. In a revelatory analysis, morale may be regarded as significant in and of itself.
