Why are there a large number of lymphatic vessels associated with the small intestine?

What will be an ideal response?

There is an abundant blood flow to and from the small intestine and the lymphoid system is important in reabsorbing the interstitial fluid that may escape from these vessels. Additionally, the Peyer's patches receive lymph originating from the digestive tract and lacteals absorb fats.
