Compare and contrast a behavior systems approach with the general laws of learning approach.
What will be an ideal response?
The general laws of learning view assumes that learning is the primary determinant of how an animal acts. Learning functions to organize reflexes and random responses so the animal can effectively interact with the environment. The laws are generalizable across organisms. Behavior systems approaches contend animals possess instinctive behavior systems. Each instinctive behavior system is independent and serves as a specific function or need within the animal. Learning evolved as a modifier of existing behavioral systems. The impact of learning is to change the integration, tuning, investigations, or linkages within a particular behavior system.
