What are some general guidelines to follow for writing good link text?  Why should you avoid using "click here" as a link?

What will be an ideal response?

Some general guidelines to follow when creating link text:
• Write naturally, but plan for placement of the link.
• When possible, place link text toward the end of a sentence.
• Make the link text meaningful and obvious.
• Don't use "click here" in link text.

Avoid using "click here" because:
• When out of context, it is meaningless. If visitors are scanning the page and "click here" repeatedly catches their eye, the phrase provides no additional information about the page.
• It is device-dependent. Not all users "click" to follow a link; navigation varies with different devices.
• It lowers search engine rankings for your site. Search engines give weight to link text, and "click here" offers no clue to help the search engine software decide what your site is all about.
• It makes your site less accessible to those who have visual impairments and who use screen readers to hear content, including links. A series of links labeled "click here" doesn't clarify the surrounding context for a screen reader system, making navigation difficult.
