Describe how temperature, blood pH, BPG, and affect hemoglobin's percent saturation for O2 . Include the Bohr effect in your answer

What will be an ideal response?

As temperature, BPG, and increase around Hb, there is a decrease in Hb's affinity (binding strength) for O2 . Under these conditions, Hb's percent saturation with O2 decreases. Hb's decreased affinity for O2 when is high is called the Bohr effect. When blood pH decreases (becomes more acidic), more H+ ions bind with Hb and decrease Hb's affinity for O2; this is also part of the Bohr effect.
