Ans: Answers to this question will vary but should include elements of the following: The six steps and guidelines to safer schools: (a) Gather information by holding a class meeting or involving the school counselor. (b) Identify the problem with students’ help and make sure criteria are measurable; vote and look for consensus. (c) Generate solutions by brainstorming with students and using “what are” questions to help guide that conversation. (d) Criteria for decision making needs to include data and an understanding of the resources needed to make the goal applicable and attainable. (e) Develop and action plan with a solution and including who does what and by when. (f) Have an evaluation process to determine of things are working by conducting a class meeting. (g) Always be willing to revise and revisit the initial plan.
