What are the domains of family quality of life and what is your role as an educator in relation to this concept?
What will be an ideal response?
Having a child with a disability puts added stress on any family; however, many families of children with disabilities are able to maintain a high family quality of life. When educators partner with parents and understand the domains of a family quality of life and how they can contribute to those in positive ways, children and their families will benefit. The domains of family quality of life are emotional well-being, parenting activities, family interaction, physical/material well-being, and exceptionality-related support. It may appear at first that the role of the educator is to contribute to that last domain by helping the child with a disability achieve goals at school, make progress at home by collaborating with the parents (or others), and helping the child make friends at school. However, educators can contribute in the other domains as well. They can direct families to available resources and networks
