Physical wellness is impacted because people who are addicted typically fail to take good care of themselves because they are preoccupied with the addictive behavior. Emotional wellness is threatened because physiological and psychological addiction lowers self-esteem. Addiction also impact social wellness because the addict usually becomes a loner who gradually cuts off relationships with family. Mental wellness is impacted because addiction impairs reasoning, judgment, and logic. Spiritual wellness is impacted because of the time and energy demands of the addiction. Addicts have difficulty maintaining the same priorities and values they once had. Occupation wellness is threatened because as the addict is involved in the addictive behavior, they have little time for school or work. Finally, environmental wellness is threatened because addicts are distracted by their dependence and are unable to be concerned about protecting themselves or the environment.
